NEW! I am delighted to have four collaborative poems appearing in the latest issue of Misfit!

Delighted to have four collaborative poems appearing in the new Issue No. 38, Spring 2024 of Misfit!

Two poems by Daniel G. Snethen and me - and two poems by j/j hastain and me.
You can read them and many more poems HERE - http://misfitmagazine.net/archive/No-38/Cook.html ***
Another implosion of stagnation
leads toward further deterioration.
Metallic trash inside your head
replicates itself and now there are two
of You hiding behind the trash.

But the first You has succumbed
to ferric oxidation of the psyche
and the second You is bent
against following suit and yearns
to become one with a garbage can.

Your mom is a hysterical burn barrel
with complications during delivery.
Her voice either sizzles at You
or takes You out.
in the poem "Retrogradation of You" by Juliet Cook and Daniel Snethen

Happy last day of November! Alice Says Go Fuck Yourself Issue 5 is here!

"It was you who chose to replace the keyhole
with an open wound of red paralysis

with a never ending void of broken glass
hovering above the child's doll.
Then the doll gave birth
to another headless crustacean
and another, and another and yet another ad infinitum."

from "Paint It Red" by Juliet Cook and Daniel G. Snethen

NEW! I have two poems with centipedes inside them making an appearance in the new issue of Sein und Werden!

"Broken wings and cracked mirrors
would transport magpies. Magpies would bounce
out of the glass, slither down bedroom walls,
carry the new centipedes into their new nests"

in my poem "It's Raining Centipedes"

Very excited to have one individual poem and one collaborative poem by j/j hastain and me appearing in the new Autumn/Winter 2023 Issue of Sein und Werden!

NEW! Three new poems are making an appearance in the Spring 2023 Issue of Misfit Magazine!

"Some blood is the color of canned cranberry sauce;
other blood is darker inside
and keeps on growing into its own color."

(the beginning of my poem "Thirteen Mice")

I am delighted to have three poems included in the NEW Issue No. 36, Spring 2023 of the fabulous Misfit Magazine!

Two new individual poems by me and one collaboration by j/j hastain and me!

Thank you very much to editor Alan Catlin and all the other poets involved!

Part of Catlin's Introduction to Misfit 36 - "To combat this free form absurdity, malaise, dread, etc. is why we write and read poetry. We have a wide, eclectic range of poets representing all kinds of diversity in voice, tone, and intent. There are the deeply personal poetry of sexual assault to the wildly experimental of Cook and hastain with a little bit of everything else in between."

NEW! "A Red Envelope", a collaborative poem by me and j/j hastain appears in Berfrois!

"Sometimes I ignore reality.
Sometimes I exaggerate reality.
Unsteady lines break into
the un-convenient store and drink
all the 2 percent milk until
a red envelope slides down
an internal window."

the beginning of j/j hastain and I's newly finished poem, "A Red Envelope", which is newly published in Berfrois!

NEW! Three collaborative poems by me and j/j hastain are dripping in the CUL-DE-SAC OF BLOOD!

Delighted to share that j/j hastain and I have three collaborative poems appearing in CUL-DE-SAC OF BLOOD!

"When I brought my black flower inside, there were bunches
of human hair hanging from the petals. At first, I wasn't sure
where they had come from. Then I realized
of course they came from me. But I wasn't sure
if they would destroy the flowers or help them grow
into something new. Part of me felt that the more they grew,
the more my peripheral vision would be altered."

New! A collaborative poem by j/j hastain and me, SUBLIMINAL BODY JEWELRY IS THE NEW LEADER , is newly appearing in BigCityLit!

"Within one week, three nose rings flew out of my nose,
hit the floor and quickly dispersed.
A month later one of them submerged
from the carpeting and sky rocketed up to the ceiling
like a tiny UFO. It wanted my nose to join it.

Next thing I knew I was missing my vertebrae,
sequined maggots were stitched to the top of my ears
and invertebrate inventory was being conducted
on my hair..."

NEW in Burning House Press - A Fairy Tale Covered in Underwater Ashes by me and j/j hastain

Always drowning in one way
or another. Another pretty little straight jacket
inside another shot glass,
that evolves into an ongoing Martini,
leading closer to an underwater body bag.

NEW in Burning House Press - 3 Poems by me and j/j hastain!

j/j hastain and I have three poems up at Burning House Press today, within the Labyrinth! Thank you to Guest Editor Dhiyanah Hassan!

Sometimes I wonder whose semi-secret shit list I’m on
and why. Maybe I’m just paranoid.
I have my own scars, my own forms
of damage control, but not quite enough
time to get it right or trust
my own impulses.

Happy October! A NEW poem by me and j/j hastain is up at Rogue Agent today!

"We don't wrench out every bite of pie filling
because that would debilitate the crust.
We don’t try to unearth our whole life’s story in the memoir
about how we felt the first time we watched E.T.
We don't maintain the exact same flavor forever.
Connective tissue eventually rips apart;

flutters down from the scaffolding
and lands in its own new space."

from the poem "FOR CLASSIFICATION PURPOSES" by Juliet Cook and j/j hastain, at Rogue Agent Issue 55

"This is a compilation to behold. It holds nothing back, and does not deny itself the pleasures of the flesh: horror, macabre, and the grotesque find their home here. Each poem is somehow delicate and horrible..."
