Here's a little more about Malformed Confetti, that appears in the About the Author section in the back of the book:

Juliet Cook has been writing poetry for more than 25 years. Her poetry has appeared in a small multitude of magazines, both online and in print. She is the author of numerous poetry chapbooks, recently including a collaboration with j/j hastain called "Dive Back Down" (Dancing Girl Press, 2015), an individual collection called "From One Ruined Human to Another" (Cringe-Worthy Poets Collective, 2018), and with another individual collection, "Another Set of Ripped Out Bloody Pig Tails" forthcoming from The Poet's Haven. 

Cook's first full-length individual poetry book, “Horrific Confection”, was published by BlazeVOX in late 2008, ten years ago now. Her more recent full-length poetry book, "A Red Witch, Every Which Way", is a collaboration with j/j hastain published by Hysterical Books in 2016. Her MOST recent individual full-length poetry book is this one, "Malformed Confetti".

The poems within "Malformed Confetti" range from 2008 to 2015. In early 2010, Cook suffered from an unexpected Carotid Artery Dissection, which lead to an Aneurysm which lead to a Stroke. Later in 2010, while on the brink of divorce and temporarily living with her parents, Cook began to assemble and submit an earlier version of this manuscript. As time went on, she revised it, added more recent poems, and rearranged it, forming it into a dissected but interconnected discombobulation of pre-stroke and post-stroke work.

Cook's poetic style has undergone changes over the years, but her passion for poetry lives on. 

Cook also sometimes creates semi-abstract painting collage art hybrid creatures. 

Cook also runs her own tiny independent press, Blood Pudding Press, which sometimes publishes hand-designed poetry chapbooks and sometimes sells art.

Plus what is enough? 

I didn't realize this fruit had fangs
until I bit in and swallowed.
I guess they're technically prickly spines
carved out of someone else's brain.
The x ray tech told me my veins were okay
but they only checked one part of my body.

I mean I can't even organize my own photos,
so let's not talk about the insides
of my screwed up head trying to coalesce
with the insides of someone else's.
Plus which your head can just fuck itself
if you're going to make fun of my other friends.

The Me Too Movement left me on the sidelines

somewhere between Hell and High-water.

And I’m not okay with that because I have a story

even though I choose not to tell it unless the lights

are out and I’m wearing my favorite pair of jammies.

There’s something to be said for discretionary spending.

I’m so tired of taking the higher ground and listening

to my better angels.

The better devils inside of me are kicking up a tumbleweed

tsunami and refuse to settle for their own Broadway musical.

I’ve listened long enough to the voices inside my head

and am pretty sure they don’t have my best interest at heart.

Sometimes I think pinking shears live inside my body

and I want to pull them out and cut off some of you guy's dicks.

Sometimes I think there's a lawnmower living inside my body

and I want to yank it out and cut off someone's eggplant shaped head.

In my dream a doll house is filled with tiny chainsaws aiming towards doll eyes.

In my nightmare I am the doll house filled with tiny dolls with chainsaws for mouths.

"This is a dark collection of poetry focusing on childhood fears, eating disorders, body dysmorphia and…..cake. Well that is the feeling I get from reading this, it leaves a lot to the reader’s imagination, how you read certain lines in each poem can change the whole poem completely, it’s all very clever.

The book seems to span a great distance, with early poems showing childhood fears and being in awe of her mum, and then in later poems the poet has grown up and is writing about sex and her own baby (which I think may or may not have flippers)."

Today is my birthday and it is a wonderful day to have in my hands some copies of my new full-length poetry book, "Malformed Confetti", newly published by Crisis Chronicles Press!
