Ethel Volume 6 is now available online and includes my poem, "Red Glass Ceiling"

"And you need to bleed out the madness screaming inside you.
Feel it drip and drip and drip into a wine glass. Fill yourself
back up, temporarily. You think you're always a work in progress,
attempting to raise yourself up to the top of the ceiling.

And then crash down."

A NEW Review of the new Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "i saw god cooking children / paint their bones" by john compton

"These pieces stitched together in artistic fashion by a wonderful small press look to creators who fall out of love with their subjects. A parent treating its child poorly for how they're born is like a god prone to damn all humanity without giving it a chance. Plenty of honest pictures lie within these beautiful pages. Every one of them unique.

- Tim Heerdink, author of Razed Monuments, The Human Remains, and Red Flag and Other Poems"

Thank you very much to Tim Heerdink for his wonderful review of the new Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook, "i saw god cooking children / paint their bones" by john compton

You run into the wall
and it opens, conveys you
into a dark place.  The door
bangs shut and locks itself.

The handles eject regurgitation.
Your feet stick to the floor and turn
forward and back in an endless limbo.

Sago palm by MISH

"we bleed paint like animals - ballerina pink with feline drool - boiling at the core - a powerful impression on energized receptors - campaigns of promises made with mud - The streets all feel so hopeless - every word we don’t speak burrows through our throats - Trivia demands attention as the body hangs limp - From the only slot that opens here - Little pumpkin-headed baby, toothless and hollow - Night gives no reason to let her live - The moon continues, so still - A small head broken - a rusted refrigerator shoved over a railing from the second floor - Barking dogs tied to the radiator of misery - with reams of poems - cut a slit in the neck hang them upside down - Rainbows of blood - beyond the rivers, cliffs, and tombs..."

I said hello
to the death songs inside me.

I caressed the safety razor
I used to shave my legs.
I couldn’t force myself
to carve the flesh of my wrists.

I asked my mother
to move so I could reach
the cabinet under the kitchen sink:
I’ll drink Drano.
I’ll kill myself.

No, you won’t, said Mother
and told me to set the table.

NEW! My poem "Industrial Carousel" appears within The Rising Phoenix Review!

"Sometimes I feel like I’m on a bad dream carousel,
moving in rickety circles, taking turns
sitting on different unnatural broken animals.
A never ending damaged carnival ride.
Every horse has different side effects.
The only think they all have in common
is they’re all fake and will eventually break,
make you start over again and make you pay."

from my poem, "Industrial Carousel", making an appearance in The Rising Phoenix Review

He writes so many love letters,
he will soon forget which ones were for you.

He gets tired of you and fills your drink
with rat poison, but gives you the wrong drink,

confusing you with his other lover
who loves low-fat milk.

NEW! This Rotten Trumpet is Our Leader by me & Martin Willitts Jr is up at The Rising Phoenix Review!

There is no cure. We no longer desire to be cured.
We rather infect as many as we can, so we are all alike:
crushed plastic doll heads
in blood-splattered, contaminated rain
bending like trumpets someone sat on.
Soon nobody will have their own instruments.
within the poem, "This Rotten Trumpet is Our Leader" by me and Martin Willitts Jr, newly appearing within The Rising Phoenix Review
