NEW! I am delighted to have two poems newly appearing in Misfit Magazine Issue No. 40, Summer 2025!

"This flesh ripped inside dreams or is it
part of reality now? This headless body.
This bodiless head like some form of contraband
floating above the broken red
bed frames in the dark space
with shrapnel firing inside the cylinder
of my brain. Let's rock. I can't drive
my way out of this collision course."

the beginning of my poem "Dream State Collision Course Filled With Secrets", one of two of my poems newly appearing in Misfit Magazine Issue No. 40, Summer 2025

Also in the Books Received and Acknowledged section of this issue of Misfit, is a small Review of my poetry chapbook "REVOLTING" (Cul-de-sac of Blood, 2024). Thank you very much to Alan Catlin. "Cook is master of disambiguation, of obsessive images featuring detached body parts, doll’s heads, and the like, sort of like a nightmare of disarticulating dream states. Often the reader feels as if the words, the body parts in the poems are revolting against the poem/the self. It’s uncomfortable but it’s always eye opening and intriguing. Not your standard poetic fare."
If interested, you can acquire your own copy of "REVOLTING" from the publishers here - https://www.culdesacofblood.com/books

NEW! Two of my individual poems and two collaborative poems appear in Issue 39 of Misfit!

"Malignant narcissist spitting more dirty fur
out of yammering mouth. First he acts like your pet
or a close friend, then he turns on you
and now he insists you are his.

He grows into a giant tapeworm,
ribbony, twisting around your lips, trying to stick,
eat your words, call them his own,
as if he has always owned you."

the beginning of my poem "Carnivorous Worm"

I am delighted to be included in the Current Issue No. 39 of Misfit!

This issue includes two poems by me - one collaborative poem by Daniel G. Snethen and me - and one collaborative poem by Daniel G. Snethen, Alex S. Johnson, and me.

Lots of wonderful poetry by lots of other poets too! If I were you, I would read it all. But I'm not you.

Thank you very much to writer and editor Alan Catlin.

Another implosion of stagnation
leads toward further deterioration.
Metallic trash inside your head
replicates itself and now there are two
of You hiding behind the trash.

But the first You has succumbed
to ferric oxidation of the psyche
and the second You is bent
against following suit and yearns
to become one with a garbage can.

Your mom is a hysterical burn barrel
with complications during delivery.
Her voice either sizzles at You
or takes You out.
in the poem "Retrogradation of You" by Juliet Cook and Daniel Snethen

"The closest I'll get
to becoming stuck
in a sort of container
is a fish being carried
through a thundering fair.
A slimy hagfish
on top a hot funnel cake.

Screaming instead of
quietly swimming
as they try to swallow me
or throw me away
or place me inside
where they think I belong today."

in my poem "Hagfish Slime"

NEW! Three new poems are making an appearance in the Spring 2023 Issue of Misfit Magazine!

"Some blood is the color of canned cranberry sauce;
other blood is darker inside
and keeps on growing into its own color."

(the beginning of my poem "Thirteen Mice")

I am delighted to have three poems included in the NEW Issue No. 36, Spring 2023 of the fabulous Misfit Magazine!

Two new individual poems by me and one collaboration by j/j hastain and me!

Thank you very much to editor Alan Catlin and all the other poets involved!

Part of Catlin's Introduction to Misfit 36 - "To combat this free form absurdity, malaise, dread, etc. is why we write and read poetry. We have a wide, eclectic range of poets representing all kinds of diversity in voice, tone, and intent. There are the deeply personal poetry of sexual assault to the wildly experimental of Cook and hastain with a little bit of everything else in between."

NEW! Three of my Internal Suffocation Poems in Misfit Magazine!

"Here's my small fucked up contribution
to the world. Speech stilted,
memory desiccated. Me
exaggerating everything.

My lingering outbursts
turn into violent mosh pits
inside my own mind.
Then I fall down into oblivion.

Then I get back up again..."

Delighted to have three of my Internal Suffocation poems making an appearance in the NEW Fall 2022 Issue of Misfit! (Looking forward to reading all the other poetry in this issue too!)

New! Four collaborative poems by Darryl Shupe and me in Issue No. 33, Fall 2021 of MISFIT!

Four of Darryl Shupe and my strange and creepy collaborative model fair poems are now making an appearance in the new Fall 2021 Issue of Misfit Magazine!

Model Arts and Crafts - Model Hog Heaven - Art Barn Torture - Like A Tortured Clown Funny.

Two Industrial Arts models heads fused together,
jaws welded into an experimental act of inertia.
Their brains were off-kilter anyway,
before their necks were snapped.

So what if they're dead? Now they can be parts
of something greater, parts of the whole art barn.
This barn reeks of death.

New! Two of my poems appear in the new issue of Misfit Magazine! - "Some people want to remove your eyes" and one of my FLESH WORLD poems...

I feel pretty strongly about these two poems of mine that appear in the new Issue No. 32, Spring 2021 of Misfit Magazine!

Below is a link to my two poems - "Some people want to remove your eyes" and one of my FLESH WORLD poems (from a small series).

I hope a few people read them. 💜 I've been feeling kind of invisible lately (and having a hard time trusting other people).

However, even if hardly anyone reads them, I am still proud of them for my own reasons.

"Some might label a few of my skeletons as borderline
personality disorder or downright insane, but
I call them force fields of special powers,
semi-contained inside small bony bodies."

NEW in Misfit Magazine! "Myth Owls Targeted At Evil" by me and j/j hastain

j/j hastain and I have a long collaborative poem called "Myth Owls Targeted At Evil" appearing within Issue No. 28, Fall 2019 of Misfit Magazine, surrounded by all kinds of other poems too.
"This could be a trap or a ravenous rap tap
tapping at a cellar door party
filled with perky breasts, percolating
cups brewing more Percocet"
