"...if you can just get past the long menu of gross, a delectable feast of savory music. Each time I read the book...I see more beauty and less ugly."

Poetry Delight in Tuscaloosa Alabama, April 23-24!

I will be reading a few of my poems as one part of many other fun-filled poetry readers participating in the Slash Pine Press Poetry Festival during the evening of Friday April 23 & pretty much all day and night on Saturday April 24. Wheee!

Several different poetry reading spots in Alabama take place throughout this event (Slash Pine Press lives at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa). The reading I am part of takes place on Saturday between 3 PM - 5:30 PM within a local bar called Little Willies. Find out more about this location, plus details about all the readings and readers on the Slash Pine Press website here: http://www.slashpinepress.com/festival/

I am involved in this reading because Slash Pine Press published my poetry chapbook called FONDANT PIG ANGST. More information about that book is also available in the above website where you may even purchase a copy for yourself AND/OR you may also purchase a copy from me via my etsy shop at http://www.bloodpuddingpress.etsy.com/

a jelly donut was my roommate...

I've been reading various poems lately to prepare for my upcoming poetry reading as part of the Slash Pine Press special event, for which I will be a part of many readers next Saturday. Here's another poem from my Slash Pine Press chapbook; the chapbook is called FONDANT PIG ANGST; this poem itself is called Spiracular.

I won't be reading this particular poem as part of the above-mentioned event, but I will be reading another piece from FONDANT PIG ANGST--2 poems from PINK LEOTARD & SHOCK COLLAR--& one poem from my latest Blood Pudding Press for Dusie Kollektiv 4 chapbook Soft Foam.

incantation translation (& more coming soon)...

(incantation)

locks of black sheep, old rosary beads,
dried rose petals placed between pages
with a small ceremony you can only imagine
my desirousness, covetousness, little sprouts
that grow into twisting tubers, climbing me,
seeking entry, this calligraphy that writes itself
on the body, imprint of desiccated flowers, strained feeders
I’m holding my hand out in the shape of a reliquary

~Juliet Cook~

(incantesimo)

Meat Chorus (for Letizia)

Meat Chorus is another of my odd poems published in the Slash Pine Press chapbook, FONDANT PIG ANGST. Letizia Merello is a lovely fellow writer who digs this piece, so I'm reading it for her. She's a deliciousy darkly creative poet who has written her own strangely and scarily yummy work and also has taken the time to Translate quite a few of my poems into Italian, hurrah! The next Blood Pudding Press chapbook, created in several months (probably early June) will be a collection between the two of us, called ANGEL FACE TRAILER. Slurp.

Slumber Party Scandal poetry

I have several different Slumber Party Scandal poems; this is #1. I will be reading #2 at an upcoming Slash Pine Press poetry reading event on April 24. Slumber Party Scandals 1, 2, & 3 are within a little chapbook of mine called Pink Leotard & Shock Collar published last year by Spooky Girlfriend Press (and recently sold out).

Twin Peaks & More!

More poetry reading coming soon.

For now, if you're interested in Twin Peaks and Poetry, check out my Blood Pudding Press blog for a little article complete with links and photos about Twin Peaks 20th Anniversary!

You also might want to consider submitting a Twin Peaks related or inspired poem to Thirteen Myna Birds, which will likely be updated later this month.

Fever

Here's me reading an older poem of mine called 'Fever'; it's from my full-length book 'HORRIFIC CONFECTION'. I've been trying to read a lot of my own poems lately in order to read them better and decide which few to read at the upcoming Slash Pine Press poetry reading (see my entry below for more info.).

I will not be reading this particular poem at that event, so here it is.

Not sure what's up with my weird-looking almost non-visible eyes covered by odd flashing light. That's probably an old camera issue or maybe it's some kind of brain scan result. Either way, here is my Fever-ish reading.

Cat Scan Fever

Tomorrow I have a hospital appointment, during which I will be getting Cat Scanned, to see if my Stent area is healing properly after my stroke. I'm a little nervous about it, but hopefully it will go well. Then I'll be visitng the hospital a week later to find out the results and talk to one of the doctors who performed my surgery. I have a lot of things to talk to him about and ask him (copied above). Although I'm definitely feeling better and stronger in many ways, I am still experiencing various strange and/or uncomfortable little issues and/or symptoms and want to make sure those are normal and to be expected as I continue to recover. I don't know anyone else personally who has suffered from this stroke, so I don't know what is too be expected, possibly related to some of the pills I'm taking, or cause for concern or alarm.

Soon after those two hospital appointments, I will be participating in my first poetry reading in months--a long, fun affair featuring numerous other poets. More details on that coming soon, hurrah! Oh and also on the happy side, I received a new camera from my Nat and Joc yesterday! Yay! New photo(s) also coming soon.
