The Last Thirteen Myna Birds Flock of 2017!

I am excited to announce that the last flock of Thirteen Myna Birds for 2017 has arrived!
It begins with three teaser piece poems by Jennifer E. Hudgens that also appear in their poetry chapbook, "Paloma", which is now newly available for preorder in the Blood Pudding Press shop, HERE -https://www.etsy.com/listing/562664308/pre-order-paloma-by-jennifer-e-hudgens?ref=shop_home_active_3
It includes oodles of strange, sexy, scary, creepy, wonderful poetry by Darren C. Demaree, Jeff Nazzaro, Mitchell Krockmalnik Grabois, Sneha Subramanian Kanta, Mark J. Mitchell, Jon Bennett, and John Grey, all HERE - https://13myna.blogspot.com/
"How is it life if we aren’t suffering - earlobes stretched and dangling - I have shoveled her into my mouth - We could drink in the Ether together - drowning you in blue shards - strokes of harvest brown into the woe of blackened days - I shun the daylight - The brightness favors illusion - Sometimes it’s spit-out gum or twisted up toilet paper - Drowning in your deep graying heart - a pall of smog - A film of spider web - floating in space like one-eyed cigar-shaped UFOs - It’s true they have secrets they keep in impossible pockets - How many girls did he pretend to love - like children plucking the wings from flies - She squirms because the itch can dance - sailing through space - We must look so confused through the window"

Happy Halloween from Thirteen Myna Birds!

Offering new poetry and art by Michael Grover, Charles Cicirella, Mish, B.C. Nance, Daniel G. Snethen, John Thomas, Leona Vander Molen, and Steve Sibra.
"Funeral parlor waiting room walls - The Shaman have committed suicide - your head is like a black hole of sadness - A fleeting apparition of ghostly beauty - the coastal sprawl that stinks - quite an immense creature - To the center of the universe or to the epicenter of this enigma we call life - spent youth under dark tables - their legs, mostly necrotic from high sugar - she pets the wallpaper while we eat - I wrap copper wire on her ankles - I keep my removed teeth in a bag, waiting..."

"Watching myself die - Mauve spidery velvet - Rotting wild cherries dropped like marbles in the soil - tangled up in our own seaweed - Pain has worked grooves into your face like bone - Everyone has their own sickness to feed - the stag’s spirit easily hopped into Father’s open mouth - panic for A sting never intended - Whenever I am in a plastic bag you can't decide - I drown in the tub while You go back to bed - The moon is melted, all but shelled - in one of those collages they put together for viewings and funerals"

The New August Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has Arrived!

The new August flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has finally arrived on the last day of August!
New poems by Charles CicirellaJennifer E. Hudgens, Alan Britt, Ali Jones, Eddy Jordan, and John Grey.
"His wide palms made it easy to hold his prey - I tried to climb out of the hole again - to dig my way out of losing - even background checks are shot full of holes - dripping from a corroded arrowhead - Was this what hell feels like - like blackened goblets - in red dawn - in love with sweetness and gore - turning comatose blue - I start to black out again - it's a side-effect of spirits - the shadows of trees moving back and forth - my head holds my predator's wisdom - We drag our dreams - the radio bleeds a sobbing tune -fluid and bloody - mouth jolts open, as if forced from within."

New the July Thirteen Myna Birds Flock Has Arrived!

The July flock of Thirteen Myna Birds has finally arrived, filled with wonderful new poems by Sarah Lilius, Christian Sammartino, Mohja Kahf, Eileen Murphy, Donna Dallas, Ali Jones, Natalie Crick, Sarah Valeika, and Mike Zone!

"My lungs live in a beehive - where a baby tooth has been extracted, enamel sold to a higher power - stare at the fireplace that is empty and barren, same as my head - my pelvis will substantially be involved in my getting out of bed - Congealed dirt lies on the bottom, like a thin crust of coagulated blood - you let the blood-red twinkle along into your cup - set your body to rewind, in case you miss something - I'm growing fins to swim out and meet you - I'm talking to myself again, like this tin can Telephone has the signal to reach your ears - on blankets in the darkness in the only bed we owned - The white cat lies across the flagstone path as if she owns the flagstone path - boned trees erupt Through frost skins - black skeleton branches touch out for acceptance - ready to fold—over and over - You and I aren't all closed casket memories And eulogies yet"

"blood pixels are starting to look real these days - A tree of eyes - sickness in my mirror is all I see - The glass comes down trapping me inside - I should cut and open the void - meet reality by screaming at tombstones - Death is too loud - Is it burning like an enemy in our closet or like a miracle denied? - like a parcel for someone else - Into the first gear of grief - chopped off hands that came to him empty of gold - the ant crawls up your leg - your arms and back printed in rows of purple butterflies - I heard the reporters lying - my naked body burning - The spaceship exploded"

"tear this website down with my teeth, find another inside of me - over the insanely sharp edge - the sheep skull knocking - always heavy with a bucketful of evil - you need a lobotomy - from the plume of exhaust - I have already been called kindling - Liquid shards of glass pierce the tongue, esophagus and comprehension - They stay away as if he’s contagious - From a bubble trapped under a fragile film blue rivulets burst forth - electrocuting his testicles many times - defining their glass heads propped on a strict spine - the cheeks doused with rouge to the point of partial red - she went up in flames, to wherever..."

Every day she tells me a hundred times to kill myself - like a smooth monster skull cracking a jawline - a skulking dribble of blood - a skeleton's body sideways - closer to the wrong side of grief - there's an earth in here somewhere - with no ability to see the stars falling - dead as a washed-up squid - I drown my fingers like they are 10 little snakes - and there are things I don’t understand - myths filled with fear - clarity and imperfections frozen before melting - perpetually stuck with this painful disability - I couldn’t burn the fever images out of my head - follow the gaze to the remains of a seagull, withered in death & rot - Something flutters in the dying light.

In case anyone missed the announcement of the Blood Pudding Press chapbooks selected for publication this year, here's a link to that news:

http://bloodyooze.blogspot.com/2017/04/new-announcement-of-three-new-blood.html

Also, I will be adding a few poems from some of the Finalists on the Blood Pudding Press blog next month.

And also, the May flock of Myna Birds is already full (forthcoming in about a month), but I am still considering Myna Birds submissions for June...

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT of THREE NEW Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbooks forthcoming in 2017!

This was a really difficult decision! I don't know how small press editors that get hundreds of submissions can manage to narrow it down to a few within a month or two, because I sure couldn't. For me, it was tough to narrow down my original submissions of less than 50 to 8 that I wanted to see the entire manuscripts of, and then it was even more challenging to decide between those 8.

I think all 8 of them deserve to be published, and I hope the ones I haven't chosen to publish through my Blood Pudding will find their homes soon.

I had meant to choose 1 or 2 to publish, but instead I chose 3, and those 3 are:

~Thirsty Bones by Sarah Lilius (to be published in late May/early June)

~Fuck Cancer Poems by Michael D. Grover (to be published in late August/early September)

~Paloma by Jennifer E. Hudgens (to be published in late November/early December)

The Finalists (in no particular order) are:

~Paper Doll, Heart of Ashes by Melissa Atkinson Mercer

~Prone As i Am by Bree

~After the Singularity by Devon Balwit

~Uncanny by Judy Hall

~Not Your Father's Nightmares by Scott Anton Morgan

(For those of you haven't checked it out yet and might be interested in partaking and/or purchasing, the first Blood Pudding Press poetry chapbook of 2017 was Cutting Eyes From Ghosts by Ariana D. Den Bleyker, available here -https://www.etsy.com/listing/494588398/new-cutting-eyes-from-ghosts-by-ariana-d?ref=shop_home_feat_1

For anyone interested, this month's Thirteen Myna Birds will be going live before the end of this month and will include a bunch of uniquely wonderful "runner-up" poems from some of the other great offerings I received for Blood Pudding Press consideration last month.

Also, some Finalist poems will appear on the Blood Pudding Press blog next month.

The New March Flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is here!

The new March flock of Thirteen Myna Birds is here! - http://13myna.blogspot.com/ Poetry by Ariana D. Den Bleyker - Eileen Murphy - Jessica McKenna - John Burroughs - Robert Ford - Michael Grover.
"Pins impale thumbs - one of his hands attached - To one of his ankles by thread - flesh resting on disintegrating bones - We are in a transition period - The body reaching the point of rot - We live to consume until we are consumed - a lollipop wrapped in plastic - Her breasts, filigreed with silver stretch marks - Titular typecast orange tapioca - The cracked plate remains - car-crashes in the bathroom, unhelpful dreams - someday I'd figure out - That reality is just too sad"

The First Myna Birds Flock of 2017 is here!

Thirteen (+ three extra) pieces...

by Ariana D. Den Bleyker (three poems from her chapbook, "Cutting Eyes from Ghosts" coming very soon from Blood Pudding Press!), Jacklyn La Polita Janeksela, Craig Firsdon, Michael Grover, Mark Benedict, Ava C. Cipri, and Jeremy Mallory!

The world is flipping over itself - i carve the words death candy in a pole - a shot in the skull - If we’re quiet & listen, we can hear the dead - the glass rack hangs from the ceiling like i think my dead cousin wanted to - there’s a green skeleton underneath my bed - Sitting high up on his pedestal - That he has built on the backs of others - See us as a part of the human race and not just another number - a fury of clocks’ pendulums across - I shut off the valve filling Mother’s lungs with vinyl - It's all stagnation anyway - Black and white with floppy ears - the bird is still hurting...
