A new mini-review of Juliet Cook's seven year old poetry chapbook, "POST-STROKE"
A new mini-review of Juliet Cook's seven year old poetry chapbook,
"POST-STROKE":
" This diminutive collection of poems expresses
the author's attempts to live with a health issue that greatly affected her
life. The words she chooses to express herself are creative and piercing;
abstract, yet clear in intention. Frustration, acceptance and dark humor fill
the lines that tell the story between the lines. Most affecting for me is the
author's attempt to rescue buried memories. Another moving collection from a
verbal artist.."

NEW! My poem, "I Am Not Straightforward Movement" appears within Rag Queen Periodical Issue Two
"...how
the hell am I supposed to power myself out of my own
repetitive conundrum into some
sort of straightforward pathway?
I’d repeatedly crash. My
own darkness would be marooned.
My own limbs would break
through a broken mirror, another ex
traction of myself from inside
my own curvilinear folds.
I know I won’t stop folding. I
know I won’t sit still inside
someone else’s vehicle while I
am still alive."

painting/collage art hybrid creature in progress
Getting closer to finished, but I need to add more darkness to it, I think. Maybe more dark maroon and black. Too many bright colors doesn't feel connected enough to me.

more bird photos
I'm not sure if this is one of the birds who recently left the nest (if it is, they sure grow fast) or another young bird, but it was hanging out in my front yard for a while yesterday.
