NEW! I have two new poems making an appearance in POETRY FOR THE PEOPLE!

"The latest firing behooves you and your
satanic hooves ablaze with hate.
Your definition of success is rat shit
crazy and not nearly as intelligent
as actual rats. Your carpetbag rat
will rat out every so-called friend
and you will do anything to rat-a-tat-tat

your evil self into more power, money,
fame. Gain the latest rat-o-sphere of fake
rat followers. Even though your system of poison
rat droppings is meant to infiltrate and destroy
everyone else's space, place, and freedom
as you spew rat diarrhea behind the back
then in everyone's faces."

in my poem "False God in a Festival of Destructive Rats", one of two poems newly appearing in POETRY FOR THE PEOPLE

NEW! My poem From Hormone Imbalance to Death is newly appearing in Scapegoat Review, Spring 2023

"Sometimes we learn the hard way

that some mice will eat their own babies
like sadistic cannibals, leaving nothing but half a body
attached to a head that will always live inside mine."

in my poem From Hormone Imbalance to Death, newly appearing within the new SCAPEGOAT REVIEW SPRING 2023

New! A collaborative poem by j/j hastain and me, SUBLIMINAL BODY JEWELRY IS THE NEW LEADER , is newly appearing in BigCityLit!

"Within one week, three nose rings flew out of my nose,
hit the floor and quickly dispersed.
A month later one of them submerged
from the carpeting and sky rocketed up to the ceiling
like a tiny UFO. It wanted my nose to join it.

Next thing I knew I was missing my vertebrae,
sequined maggots were stitched to the top of my ears
and invertebrate inventory was being conducted
on my hair..."

A new mini-review of Juliet Cook's seven year old poetry chapbook, "POST-STROKE"

A new mini-review of Juliet Cook's seven year old poetry chapbook, "POST-STROKE":
" This diminutive collection of poems expresses the author's attempts to live with a health issue that greatly affected her life. The words she chooses to express herself are creative and piercing; abstract, yet clear in intention. Frustration, acceptance and dark humor fill the lines that tell the story between the lines. Most affecting for me is the author's attempt to rescue buried memories. Another moving collection from a verbal artist.."

Blood Pudding Press is Now Accepting Poetry Chapbook Submissions!

BLOOD PUDDING PRESS IS NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR ITS 2015 POETRY CHAPBOOK CONTEST !   (from November 20, 2014 - December 20, 2014)

Blood Pudding Press is seeking two new poetry chapbooks to publish in 2015.

Before submitting your poetry innards for consideration, please read the details below to garner an idea of our desires.

Blood Pudding Press is an itty bitty indie press handled by one woman (poet/publisher/artist Juliet Cook) and does not particularly care whether or not other poets are academic, non-academic, indie writers or part of any specific writing scene, as long as they are active in their own way – and passionately entwined in artistic creation, writing, and reading (more than just their own poetry).

Blood Pudding Press cares about poetic individuals (and collaborators) with their own unique writing stylistics and experimentation. The press is open to different styles, but some of its primary interests involve mind and body, personal exploration, oddly emotional, confessional, dark/light hybrids, abstract art, quirks, contemporary horror alterations, kinky amalgamations, grotesque treats, and volatile hybrids.

Blood Pudding Press likes the number 3 (and 13) so…

Blood Pudding Press will consider poetry collections of 13-23 poems (less than 30 pages please). Some of the poems may be previously published, but the collection as a whole should not have been published elsewhere before.  We will delightfully consider individual chapbooks and collaborative chapbooks by 2 or 3 different writers.

If this piques your interest, here are the details of entering the Blood Pudding Press contest:

-Submissions will be accepted from November 20, 2014 through December 20, 2014.

- At least three finalists and two winners will be chosen.  Each of the two winners will have their chapbooks published and will receive thirteen free copies of their chapbook.

-There is a $5.00 entry fee per manuscript for entering this contest; this entry fee money will be used to purchase supplies for publishing and designing the winning chapbooks The fee is payable to the editor’s Paypal account at Julietcoo@gmail.com (just log into Paypal, click on 'Send & Request' at the top of the page, click on 'Pay for goods or services' and then enter the email address of Julietcoo@gmail.com and the amount of $5.00).  Although Paypal is the preferred form of payment, if you do not have a Paypal account and/or would rather pay by check, you may contact the editor via that email address.

-After paying your entry fee, please email your collection of poems to Julietcoo@gmail.com. Please write BPP Chapbook Contest – (your name) in the subject line.  Include your manuscript title, your name, your contact info, and a brief bio in the body of your email.  Attach the manuscript itself as a Microsoft Word Doc or Docx.

-The winners will be announced sometime in January 2015.  The first winning chapbook will most likely be published in early March.  The second winning chapbook will most likely be published in late May or early June.

For more information about Blood Pudding Press’s sensibilities and design style, you can peruse the Blood Pudding Press online shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/BloodPuddingPress and please consider purchasing a chapbook or two or three.

You may also peruse the Blood Pudding Press blog at http://bloodyooze.blogspot.com/.

A bit more information about who has been published by Blood Pudding Press in the past can also be viewed below.

If you have any particular questions or concerns, feel free to ask or let me know.

Best, Juliet Cook, Blood Pudding Press

I have a new poetry chapbook!

Below is one poem among the 14 poems within my new poetry chapbook, RED DEMOLITION, published by Shirt Pocket Press.

How Many Holes Can You Handle?

1.

Too many holes might turn you
into a black lagoon with poison
swimming inside you. What if he tells you
he’s thinking about your tits,
you in a witch hat, going down
into a lake that keeps sinking?

2.

At the bottom, pearl sacs rip open,
blisters burst under the tongue. A blustering
blastosphere spell of passion might shoot out
of the water at a breakneck pace, but oddly twisted.
It will rip flesh off the bottom of your legs.

3.

You’re a waitress dress with skull legs affixed.
Red spiders crawl up and down your thighs.
Half and half, slightly sweetened coffee
or black?  Is it sugar or poison drip drip
dripping out your eyes? Is it an iris
or a multicolored wormhole?
