The film is set to hit the screen December 3 as part of an exclusive premiere party at the Park Street Patio. bloody local color and new news
Check out my new local content in new Columbus-based ezine The Outer Belt. I also have a new poem published at the new issue of Denver Syntax and it's also the last piece in the issue. What does this little motif mean? Unfortunately, I can't seem to see my own poem. Every other poem is perfectly visible to me, but when I click on the title of mine, I just receive a blank white screen with no words, and I'm pretty sure my poem is composed of some words rather than just a white expanse. One friendly reader informed me he could see my poem's words, so I'm hoping this glitch is only related to me (which woldn't be entirely surprising), but please feel free to let me know. Am I invisible or can you read me?

Update: Speaking of shopping (or lack thereof), about two months ago I dropped off three copies of five different Blood Pudding Press chapbooks to Wholly Craft!, a delightful little shop in Columbus, Ohio brimming with artsy crafty goodies. Unfortunately, I found out today that not a single one of those fifteen chapbooks have yet sold--and if no sales are made by the end of the month, then the shop will probably stop carrying at least some of my chapbooks.
This news tidbit makes me feel glum, disappointed, and dejected.
I spent so much time ribbon-binding and hand-designing those chapbooks, too.
Doesn't anyone desire handcrafted poetry yumness--or it is just me?

Virtual Book Tour wrap up/Blood Pudding Press update
The final review of Read Write Poem's Virtual Book Tour (of Lisa Ciccarello's poetry chapbook 'At night, the dead:' published by Blood Pudding Press) was contributed by Ren Powell, editor of Babel Fruit magazine.
Some excerpts from this review:
“Lisa Ciccarello’s chapbook is an example of why poetry books are important as works of art. That is, 'poetry book' distinct from 'book of poems'.
...as with any charm, the context of the repetitive whole is mesmerising.
The vague references to superstitious practices are never fully fleshed within a cultural context…
This vagueness allows for the ambivalence that characterizes the collection. The charm to ward off the dead becomes seductive, just as children are seduced by the fear of the Ouija board, just as pleasurable touching becomes painful within the context of insistent repetition, just as pain can become almost pleasurable. The dead are feared and longed for: ‘The dead put their fingers in your mouth’.
The sestina-like repetition in the collection creates a pleasing tension with this reader, as I want to speed through the increasingly familiar phrases, but am stopped short for close reading by the poet’s attention to detail and abbreviated metaphors…
Clearly Ciccarrello’s poems grow from their communion with the dead – the kind of growth that needs the space of chapbook.”

CutThroat Entertainment
I've been doing some promotional writing for the fun new Columbus, Ohio based independent film & media company CutThroat Entertainment. Their latest film, a horror movie called BREAK, recently wrapped filming and final preparations are now in the works for a special premiere party, circa Halloween!

In local artsy crafty indie news, I am in the beginning stages of new involvement with two appealing Columbus area entities.
1. I am going to start working on some volunteer projects of a writing/editing/promotional nature for a new independent film-making company called CutThroat Entertainment. Their first movie, a horror flick, has already wrapped filming and is scheduled to premiere this coming October. Their second movie, a documentary about an ordinary guy trying to work his way into the cage fighting arena, is currently being filmed. Lots of other projects are in the works, too. Check this exciting new enterprise out and stay tuned for more details from me about the aforementioned projects and more.
