NEW! Another New Review of my latest poetry chapbook, "Blue Stingers instead of Wings"!

"Juliet Cook doesn't write books. She creates surreal experiences for her readers with a sick soup of limitless-on edge-vulnerability, kick-ass imagery and dark humor all her own, and a clear mastery at detailing the violently petty horrors of existing. Not living, exactly. The insidious in-between. And she offers one who dares an honest to gawd peek into The Void. Whenever I open a book by her, I get greedy. I have to consume it all at once and want more. Lucky for us, she has plenty. So check out some of her macabre delights! She is truly a fascinating artist. Absolutely recommended!!"

from another new Review of my newest poetry chapbook, "Blue Stingers Instead of Wings" (published by Pure Sleeze Press in April). This Review is on Goodreads, written by the fabulous Casey Kiser. Thank you very much to Casey Kiser!

A few recent photos and comments about my poetry chapbook, "red flames burning out"!

Thank you very much to Jason O'Toole for sharing my newest poetry chapbook, "red flames burning out" on Twitter and saying this about it:

"Mail day brought the new chapbook by the extraordinary @nonvanilla - she's not only an excellent poet - she produces beautiful chapbooks and supports other poets.

The poems are among @nonvanilla Juliet's best. It's relentless, searingly honest, and plays with your emotions."

And thank you very much to MISH for recommending "red flames burning out"

"Mish Recommends: I'm working intensely on a new poetry collection, and these are my inspirations, among others: EROTIC by Alexis Rhone Fancher, RED FLAMES BURNING OUT by Juliet Cook, and THE COMPLETE POEMS by Anne Sexton. I highly recommend all three books."

My NEW poetry chapbook, "red flames burning out" is now one week old and still needs new homes!

Happy Poetry Month 2023!

This is another cover photo of my NEW poetry chapbook, "red flames burning out", published by Grey Book Press in April 2023.

I am also sharing a photo scan of the poem in the middle of the chapbook, one of 20 poems within the collection.

The collection incudes...

“Broken doll fingers bulging their way out of blubbering chicken wire. Losing parts of one’s self and growing new parts in the form of self-created nightmares, body and brain malfunctions, seizures and other divorces from parts of past reality. Pitching standard traditions in the trash, wrapped in drying blood. Creepy bird’s nests and fear of impending death, yet still continuing to create one’s own sizzling and burning red fire.”

This new chapbook is now one week old and still needs new homes. ðŸ–¤❤️‍🔥💜

An adult babydoll dress on a rotting corpse.

A dark abyss filled with rats wearing babydoll dresses.

Doll eyes replaced with moth balls.

Doll hair cut into rattails.

DARK PURPLE INTERSECTIONS next to a light purple baby skull

"Will she ever understand
that my doll brain works differently
than her doll brain and I want to escape
being handled by somebody else?
I don't want to have a string attached to my back
connected to someone else's hand,
so that someone else can choose what I do or do not
say by pulling that string."

A new mini-review of Juliet Cook's seven year old poetry chapbook, "POST-STROKE"

A new mini-review of Juliet Cook's seven year old poetry chapbook, "POST-STROKE":
" This diminutive collection of poems expresses the author's attempts to live with a health issue that greatly affected her life. The words she chooses to express herself are creative and piercing; abstract, yet clear in intention. Frustration, acceptance and dark humor fill the lines that tell the story between the lines. Most affecting for me is the author's attempt to rescue buried memories. Another moving collection from a verbal artist.."

Here's what Eileen said about her photo: "Here's what I've been reading this week--Women of the Beat Generation by Brenda Knight (MJF Books 2000), the new, irreverent chapbook by Juliet Cook called From One Ruined Human to Another (CWP Collective Press 2018), and Pain Woman Takes Your Keys and Other Essays from a Nervous System (by Sonya Huber, U of Nebraska Press 2017). I'm enjoying these books, and thought you might enjoy them, too."

A little less than a week to get your copy of The Laura Poems...

"So long ago her smile disappeared. Years
she’s been drawing it dark. Red, black; the ants
in the sugar bowl have consumed all the sugar
and their pincers are a massive mutation.
An invasion spiked into infestation."
from a poem within "The Laura Poems" by Juliet Cook, temporarily available again in the Blood Pudding Press shop.

New Review of My Red Demolition

Empty Sink Publishing (The magazine for intellectual deviants) has republished a review by A.J. Huffman of Juliet Cook's poetry chapbook RED DEMOLITION (Shirt Pocket Press 2014).

The idea of fear takes a different turn in the later poems. The speaker, while still disjointed and thrashing about in a bloody miasma of poisonous memories, seems to take on a more clinical calm, begins to dissect the mess she has become. “It starts with a multi-colored glitter dress lifted up high/to show thighs wrapped with garter belts made out of garter/snakes.” This opening image from “Love Can Be a Chokecherry” sets the perfect, if overtly biblical, stage for the subtle undercurrent of fear that echoes through the remainder of this collection: that she let this happen. The fear of responsibility is palpable: “She knows another nightmare is coming.”

Another New Review of my RED DEMOLITION

"If Juliet Cook is the wicked queen of all things dead, undead and twisted —which, OMG, she is— she most certainly is a master at writing chapbooks!"

New Poetry Chapbook Interview

A new chapbook/collaborative interview of me and Robert Cole, conducted by Laura Madeline Wiseman!

"I wanted to start a collaboration with Juliet to explore the aspects of life that I have been afraid to confront. I wanted to scare myself, really. It became apparent pretty fast that our combined style of writing was doing just that."

Robert Cole

"...since as an individual writer I seem to use similar content and even similar words a lot, I really enjoyed receiving lines that included words that don’t usually pop out of my poetry brain (like scrimshaw and sultans and puppies) and integrating that stuff into the same forum as my kind of words (like egg cups and tentacles and a blow torch) and probably creating new kinds of descriptions for both of us."

Juliet Cook
